DWP invites views on lifting NEST limits

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has opened a consultation on abolishing the restrictions on the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST).

Removal of the annual contribution limit and transfer restrictions will impact on 8,900 employers already administering their schemes through the government-backed master trust. Advisers, trustees and pension managers have until 29 October to submit their views on the draft statutory instruments that will lift the restrictions. Pensions minister Steve Webb (pictured) said the constraints were essential in getting auto-enrolment off the ground, but that the removal would give NEST members the same rights as other pension savers.
