UK investors turned their attention to emerging market equities during 2010 as cash and fixed interest investments became less attractive amid the high-inflationary environment, says Skandia.
According to the latest findings from Skandia's Investment Trends study, sales of cash funds via its platform dropped 13% during the year, while money going into UK fixed interest funds declined 15%. The move away from cash funds - which accounted for just 7% of sales in the final quarter of 2010 - is even more pronounced over two years, with sales falling 60% since their 2008 peak when they accounted for 16% of the spoils.
