European sector ETFs lose out in 2010

ETFs on STOXX Europe 600 sectors have seen aggregate outflows of $120m in 2010, according to BlackRock's final report of the year.

Net inflows of $54m in the week ending 31 December were not enough to counter a largely negative close to the year, with the week ending 12 November registering staggering losses of $956m and net outflows of $530m across December. Basic resources, food and beverage, and telecommunication ETFs saw the worst figures, with outflows of $223m, $179m and $154m respectively over the year. Collective assets across ETFs in the 19 STOXX Europe 600 sectors totalled $9,549m at the year's end. Down just 0.4% on 2009, this represents a relatively good performance against the year's outflows.
