Three years and more than 1,100 days on from Callum McCarthy's infamous Gleneagles speech, in which he set plans for the RDR, the issue still hugely divides the financial services industry.
Comments from former FSA consultant Richard Hobbs last week, in which he said the review, in its current guise, will not help consumers, sparked an intense debate on IFAonline. Hobbs said the RDR would force consumers to partake in fee negotiation and additional responsibilities, and yet still be hit with a large bill at the end. He argued the changes were more likely to work against consumers, and turn them away from financial services.
