IFAs to stand by UK equities this year

More than 80% of IFAs will recommend UK equities to clients in 2008, according to research by Gartmore, M&G, Newton and Schroders.

A survey of 904 IFAs at January’s Joint Investment Forum shows global and European stocks fall behind UK securities, with 77% and 65% of advisers respectively recommending them. Errol Francis, UK equity fund manger at Schroders, says: “We think the market is offering reasonable value at the moment. There are clearly a lot of concerns about the global economic outlook and that’s exemplified by the concern about banks.
