Pensions industry cautious over Cooper appointment

Pensions commentators are hesitant over Yvette Cooper's appointment as Secretary of State for the Department of Work and Pensions.

While many acknowledge her economics credentials and achievements at the Treasury, there are concerns she has little knowledge of the complex issues facing the pensions market. Taking over from James Purnell, who resigned from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) last night, Cooper was previously Treasury Secretary, and has considerable experience of economics.
