Hi, my name is Jonathan Goodman and I am the Spectrum IFA Group's development director for Spain, based in Barcelona. We have a team of 20 advisers working from five offices around the country; as well as Barcelona, we are in Madrid, the Costa Blanca, the Costa del Sol and the Costa Brava.
I have lived and worked here in Spain for 13 years as an IFA and now spend my time assisting my colleagues in the development of their businesses. We are one of a few expatriate IFA firms that has a licence in Spain as an insurance intermediary. Obtaining local licences for direct fund sales in Spain is incredibly difficult for an IFA, so most IFAs will follow the insurance route. The use of compliant insurance wrappers (from international life companies based in Dublin or Luxembourg) is highly tax-efficient for our clients, so this is good news for the IFA and the insurance industry.
