Some big-name fund managers have been building up their cash allocations recently, writes Laura Suter, but should advisers and their clients be following their example?

Renowned investor Warren Buffett is doing it, plenty of other investment professionals are doing it, and no doubt clients will be finding from chats in the pub that their friends are doing it - but should investors be listening to this chatter and ramping up their cash levels? Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway investment vehicle has increased its cash levels in recent months to a near record $103.6bn, (£82bn) representing around 14% of the total fund.
