A site as frequently visited as the FCA's adviser register must hold accurate information and the best way to ensure this, argues Gill Davidson, is for firms to be responsible for maintaining the information of their advisers

The events surrounding the British Steel Pension Scheme threw a much needed spotlight on several flawed areas of the advice industry and things that need to be improved. One such area is the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) adviser register, as many of the 13,000 steelworkers who were looking for a pension transfer value struggled to find a qualified adviser by using it.
