3 January 2018 saw the introduction of MiFID II as a revamped version of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive. Four months in, advisers are still getting to grips with the new obligations placed on them by the updated rules and, while no-one can argue with the aim to provide greater protection and transparency for investors, the practical implementation is harder than many envisaged.
