After months of political deadlock in Germany, Angela Merkel has finally secured a fourth term with a new coalition deal while, in Italy, the recent election has resulted in a hung parliament after the populist League and Five Star Movement parties made big gains. But what does the continuing rise of populism and the potential for a grand coalition in Italy mean for investors?
