Advice firms that are able to demonstrate better value to potential acquirers are likely to have a strong and integrated technology infrastructure that makes it easy to analyse data, argues Mark Loosmore

Our industry has certainly experienced high levels of consolidatory activity over the past few years, hasn't it? There are many reasons an advice firm would consider an M&A strategy and, with further regulatory change and other factors likely to spur it on - MiFID II, GDPR, increased price pressure and so forth - I do not see acquisition activity letting up any time soon.  This is especially the case for advisers who might be looking to exit the industry.
