In light of the regulator's intention to launch a market study on the platform market, Patrick Mill considers what that might mean for both advisers and the platforms themselves

The bulk of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) business plan was business as usual for platform providers … until page 76. It was there the regulator set out its plans for a market study that will assess the platform market and look at ways to improve competition between providers. The news would not have come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the interim report of the asset management market study, published last year.
