One highlight of the Budget for many in our industry is the news that the Money Advice Service (MAS), which has provided financial advice to consumers since 2010, is to be abolished. MAS was reviled by most advisers. It pretended to do something which it patently did not do - give advice. Although it was aimed at a different demographic, compared to those who can afford advice, MAS nevertheless eroded the value placed on robust and well-researched advice by qualified practitioners in our industry.
