Without intervention from the government and regulators, the UK risks "inadvertently becoming a cashless society", a Commons Treasury select committee report has warned.

According to the Financial Times, the report from MPs, which is published today (13 May), says the government and regulators should be ready to force banks to retain a physical network for the many vulnerable people who could otherwise be left with no access to face-to-face services.
