The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has told Intrinsic Financial Planning to pay compensation to a client following unsuitable advice given in regard to a pension transfer in 2014.

The advice the complainant received in November 2014 was given by Birch Financial Solutions, which is now an appointed representative of Intrinsic, so the network is now liable for the advice. Referred to as Mrs G by the ombudsman, the complainant believed the advice she was given by Birch to transfer her existing pension to a new arrangement was unsuitable.  At the time of the advice, Mrs G was aged 55, married and had no dependants. She was a secretary with an annual income of £30,000 and had a total savings and investments of £180,000, which was held jointly in a deposit account in...
