The proposed cold-calling ban may be ineffective if a collaborative regulatory approach between the UK and the European Union (EU) is not maintained post-Brexit, pension experts have warned.

It is already difficult for the government to tackle suspected scammers based overseas, with schemes easily able to register with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), and so the regulatory relationship should not be damaged, the Pensions Management Institute has said. The warning came in the body's response to the Treasury's consultation on a cold-calling ban, which is expected to be enforced from autumn after continual delays.
