Cold-calling ban consultation 'imminent', Treasury says

A consultation on a cold-calling ban will be published "imminently", the government has said as it laid out plans for the policy.

Regulations for the ban will likely be introduced in the autumn, it added, with these then taking effective as quickly as possible afterwards. The long sought for ban will likely target all communications relating to pensions where the person contacted does not have a prior relation to the company contacting, whether via phone, email or text message. The ban is required under the Financial Guidance and Claims Act 2018, with regulations due to be published by June this year.
