Collective investment scheme fraudster Alex Hope has pleaded guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice, according to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
The charge relates to his conduct following the imposition of a 2012 restraint order and a 2016 confiscation order that arose from criminal proceedings brought by the financial watchdog, it said. He has been remanded in custody until 15 March while a date for sentencing is yet to be set, the FCA said. In September 2016, Hope was given an addtional 603-day prison sentence for failing to pay a confiscation order, on top of the seven years he received in January 2015 when he was found guilty of defrauding investors and operating a collective investment scheme without authorisation.
