Advisers must prioritise GDPR staff training, warns Intelliflo

Training staff ahead of the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25 May should be a top priority, according to a working group set up by Intelliflo to address its implications.

The working group said training staff could help to avoid mishaps and mitigate the risks of expensive data breach claims. Of the 96 reprimands made publicly available by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in 2017, 11 related directly to individuals who were working for firms. The offences covered unwarranted accessing of personal data and sending sensitive data to personal email accounts without reason.
