Inflation expected to jump to a five-year high In the coming days, predicts this Mail on Sunday article, official figures will show inflation rose to a five-year high in October, which will mean Bank of England governor Mark Carney having to pen a letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer to explain why the central bank has missed its standing 2% inflation target by more than one percentage point.
