There is a growing need for specialist financial advisers in family law, with a mere 42 advisers currently qualified in the practice, an adviser report by membership organisation Resolution has found.
The report, which was written by advisers, estimated the size of the divorce and separation market to be about £500m a year. It highlighted there were currently a mere 42 adviser specialists accredited in family law - about one for every 5,000 people divorcing each year. The report, which was published in partnership with the Personal Finance Society, claimed advisers entering the market would benefit from referrals from family lawyers, which would allow them to build a client base quickly.
