New pensions minister expected as Harrington moved from role

Former pensions minister Richard Harrington has been axed from his role as part of Prime Minister Theresa May's government reshuffle following the snap general election.

Harrington (pictured) has been moved to the position of parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, after less than a year on the pensions brief. He had first taken over as pensions minister from Ros Altmann after she resigned from the position last July.  His new ministerial responsibilities are expected to be confirmed in due course.
