WMA members approve APFA merger

Bodies to merge on 1 June

Members of the Wealth Management Association (WMA) have agreed to the proposed merger with adviser trade body the Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA), paving the way for an official sign-off on 1 June.

The vote by WMA members followed APFA members' ‘unanimous' vote in favour of the merger at an EGM on 23 May. The combined entity will be called the Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (PIMFA). The word "Personal" has been added to the PIMFA acronym following further thinking and feedback, according to the WMA, which said it "emphasises the nature of the services offered by the united member base".
