Hair will report to chief executive Richard Charnock and look after the overall performance of the firm's investment portfolios, which comprise more than £6.7bn assets under management. He will also continue to manage portfolios for charities, private clients, trusts and pensions.
Former senior investment manager Ashcroft will now work alongside existing head of investments Ripton and report into Hair. As investment co-head, Ripton will look after the Target Return portfolios.
Both Hair and Ashcroft joined Standard Life Wealth in 2013, following the acquisition of Newton's private client business.
Charnock said: "We are delighted John has accepted the role of CIO. His expertise in investment management equips him well, and his leadership skills will help drive our ambition to be a leading player in this sector."
He added: "Julie-Ann is a first class investment manager with exceptional investment skills and extensive client relationships. She has made a significant contribution to the business since joining in 2013, and brings more than 10 years' experience in the field."
