On 26 September 2017, the great and the good of the platform world will once again gather for the Schroders UK Platform Awards at the London Hilton in Park Lane to acclaim excellence and achievement in platform technology.
Now in their 11th year, the awards - which are run in association with Professional Adviser and will again be hosted by BBC journalist Kate Silverton - are open to advisers, platforms and providers of platform technology and toolsets.
The awards' organiser Clive Waller (pictured) said: "The late and much missed Paul Bradshaw used to say platforms are ultimately just expensive bits of technology - he was, as ever, quite right. Technology changes at a pace - so must the platform awards. Our awards will continue to recognise excellence and success in mainstream retail investment.
"We shall now, however, also be looking for the winners in the digital/cyborg universe as well. We are aware of the rush into vertical integrated propositions - asset managers, platforms and adviser groups are all at it. Everyone is trying to eat everyone else's lunch, which means the value chain is becoming more and more fractured. We have to recognise this in our awards."
In addition therefore to categories such as Platform of the year, Best use of platform technology and the adviser votes that include Best platform for adviser service, other awards will include Leading innovation in investor engagement on platforms, Leading platform-enabled retirement proposition and Leading integrated planning tool provider.
Waller added: "With our sponsor Schroders and our media partner Professional Adviser, we have set ourselves the target of ensuring our judging process is of such a standard that advisers and investors will regard winners as automatic candidates for their selection shortlists.
"To assist in this process, the judging and voting is outsourced to the Personal Finance Society to ensure total independence. We are delighted Keith Richards, CEO, has agreed to be the chair of judging once again."
