Fidelity International head of retail sales John Clougherty is about to undertake the Arctic Challenge in Iceland in aid of the ATLAS Foundation charity cofounded by England Rugby World Cup winner Jason Leonard.
The challenge, which takes place from 31 March to 3 April, involves conquering the summit of the active Henglill volcano; hiking to Reyjadular Valley; and scaling walls of ice to climb to the top of a glacier located between the ice caps of Iceland's south coast. The group, which includes Leonard (pictured right, with Clougherty), will be led by a team of professional guides and mountaineers.
Clougherty is hoping to raise £10,000 for the ATLAS Foundation and, to that end, has arranged that anyone who donates £100 or more will receive a rugby ball signed by Jason Leonard and fellow World Cup-winning prop Phil Vickery. If you would like to donate, please click here
The ATLAS Foundation was founded by some of the world's leading rugby players, who were keen to give to others the advantages and opportunities they found through rugby. It supports rugby projects around the world that use the power of the game to better people's lives, working through a network of rugby champions who identify projects that relieve human suffering and disadvantage.
