CASCAID, the asset and wealth management industries-led initiative to raise £1m for Cancer Research UK, has achieved nearly a third of its target after less than three months.
The latest contributions came via sponsorship of Investec's UK fund manager Simon Brazier and a number of his colleagues, who scaled a series of mountains in South Africa earlier this month.
Upcoming CASCAID events include a 24-hour darts marathon featuring Chelsea Financial Services' managing director Darius 'Bullseye' McDermott next month. You can sponsor him here
In June, OMGI's chief executive Richard Buxton iswill lead a midnight walk around the City of London to raise funds, while M&G's Jim Leaviss will take part in a unique version of Mastermind at Investment Week's Funds to Watch conference. Viewing is by ticket only with all the money raised going to CASCAID.
CASCAID's founder Helen Wagstaff said: "I am delighted we reached £300,000 before the end of March and I really think we can hit the magic £1m target before the end of the year."
CASCAID is also going to hold its own version of an Apprentice-style challenge, with Cancer Research UK handing over 'selling days' at its charity superstore in Stevenage, Hertfordshire every Thursday of June, July and August.
Leading asset management sales teams have already signed up to see how good their sales skills really are as they compete to outsell their competitors in the name of Cancer Research.
There are three days left for teams to take up the challenge and CASCAID is hoping fund managers will donate some high-quality items for sale to boost funds.
