Schroders backs tech-based adviser support business Benchmark Capital

Schroders has invested in technology-led adviser support business Benchmark Capital in its latest push into the UK retail investment market.

Benchmark Capital consists of a technology company and an institutional funds platform, as well as a chartered firm, network of financial advisers and a restricted advice business. The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, will see Peter Harrison (pictured), group chief executive of Schroders, join Benchmark Capital's board as chairman. Meanwhile, Robin Stoakley, who last month stepped down as the firm's managing director of UK intermediary, and Andrew Ross, global head of wealth management, will also join as non-executive directors.
