Rogue trader Alex Hope receives additional prison sentence

Reportedly once spent £125,000 on single bottle of Champagne

Unauthorised foreign exchange trader Alex Hope has been given an additional 603-day prison sentence for failing to pay a confiscation order.

The sentence meted out to Hope today (27 September) is in addition to the seven years he received in January 2015 when he was found guilty for defrauding investors and operating a collective investment scheme without authorisation. Hope was ordered to pay £166,696 on 12 February 2016 but, as of today, has only paid £1,000 in satisfaction of the order.
