Public think payouts are 'truly appalling'

Advice firm Drewberry has launched a campaign to raise consumer awareness of how high protection payouts actually are.

The firm said payouts from protection had increased markedly over the past decade but the public still had the impression that "payout rates are truly appalling". The firm has launched a survey asking what percentage of claims they believe were paid in 2015. After giving their answers respondents are shown the real payout rate which is far higher. Last year's survey revealed people thought 50% of life insurance claims were paid out by insurers.
