FOS pension complaints on course to top last year's

Complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) about pension products and advice have been rising steadily and are on course to top last year's numbers, figures show.

Complaints about personal pensions, self-invested personal pensions (SIPPs), and annuities will all surpass last year's numbers if they continue to rise at the same pace, according to the FOS's latest half year figures. The service said it is seeing an increase in pension freedom-related enquiries about advice to take out personal pensions and the administration of the plans. The numbers detail complaints taken on by the FOS between April and September compared with the whole of last year and only list those that were not settled at firm level.
