A range of new ISA products could ‘revive' Britain's non-existent savings culture, Centre for Policy Studies fellow Michael Johnson has said.

His latest report, An ISA-Centric Savings World attacks the current tax relief system and argues it should be replaced by ISAs. Johnson again said the current system of pension tax relief is expensive, incompatible, inequitable, illogical, incomprehensible and, crucially, an ineffective use of Treasury funds. The report comes after the closure of the government green paper on tax relief changes, announced in the Budget.
