Half of retirees to seek professional advice, research

Almost half of consumers due to retire within the next decade will be seeking help from regulated financial advisers, research claims.

Insurer Zurich asked 900 people who they will ask for help with making financial decisions in retirement, 44% of which said they will seek professional advice. The insurer did not ask how much people were prepared to pay for the advice or which areas were of particular concern to them. The Chancellor's March Budget introduced widespread changes in the pensions system, meaning more people will have flexibility on how to utilise their savings. George Osborne also introduced a "free and impartial" guidance guarantee to be delivered under a new brand face-to-face across Citizens Advice...
