APFA: More small firms could disappear as advisers lack confidence in business models

The Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA) has warned the industry could yet lose more small firms as advisers say they are lacking confidence in their business models.

In its report on the impact of the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) out on Thursday, the trade body warned a sentiment survey has shown a "significant minority" of firms are not confident they will sustain a healthy flow of revenue by the end of 2014. The survey, carried out by research company GfK NOP Limited since RDR was implemented, suggested 72% of advisers are confident they have developed their final operating model while 80% said they were confident the current model will deliver a healthy income stream by the end of the year.
