Metlife: growing cost of education hitting parents' pension provision

The escalating cost of education is impacting parents' pension savings, according to Metlife Europe.

Online research carried out by YouGov in May ascertained that £7.3bn allocated to annual retirement savings had been spent on educational expenditure, with 23pc of adults polled admitting that such costs were affecting their pension savings. The average amount being diverted from pensions into paying for education is around £57 a month, but some people are cutting back on pension saving by as much as £300 a month.
