SLI poaches First State's Trenchard

Standard Life Investments has poached Caspar Trenchard from First State Investments, leaving the fund manager with no well-known in-house UK equity managers.

The development follows April's announcement that Paul Jourdan, manager of the First State British Smaller Companies fund and AIM VCT, had left to join Noble Fund Managers. He continues to run the smaller companies fund on behalf of his former employer. SLI said it was in talks with First State over whether it could take on the £19m of assets in Trenchard’s former British Opportunities fund.
