Launched in 2001, New Star has grown to become a household name in asset management offering an extensive range of funds to the retail market. But, the group does not launch funds for the sake of it, director of retail fund sales and marketing Mark Skinner tells David Burrows, rather it launches suitable funds for a changing market.

If you are going to launch a specialist product then you have to know what you are about. Judging by the amount of also-rans in the IMA sectors there are a number of investment houses who are more intent on having a fund in a sector rather than it making any sort of impact.
