M&G lauds large cap resolve

LARGE cap stocks have continued to deliver strong results so far this year, despite the recent market volatility, prompting M&G Investments to predict solid full year growth in the UK economy.

Richard Hughes, manager of the M&G Extra Income fund, believed that the recent positive half-year results from FTSE 100 companies were a sign that economic growth would continue, and he said investors should look closely at companies paying rising dividends. “Strong profits reported by companies in August show that company finances are robust, and I predict solid dividend growth of at least 7pc for 2007,” he said.
