A NEW type of ethical tracker fund which underweights carbon intensive companies is set to be one of the early retail launches in 2007.

Environmental research company Trucost, which released a Carbon Footprint ranking of UK investment funds earlier this year, is behind the launch in conjunction with investment management partners. Simon Thomas, chief executive of Trucost, said: “We carried out research over the past three years on the performance of funds and their carbon identities which found there was no correlation between investment performance and carbon intensity.
