Baring Asset Management will launch its ASEAN Frontiers fund in July for Hong Kong-based managers SooHai Lim and Kai Yang Lee.
The fund is a conversion of the group's existing Pacific fund, and will be focused primarily on South-East Asian Nations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. The fund is being launched in response to what Barings sees as increasing investor demand for access to a wider range of less economically developed but fast growing 'frontier' countries in the Pacific region.
