SRI funds soar past traditional products

ETHICAL funds' returns have exceeded those of mainstream traditional funds over the past year and the past three years, according to research by Moneyfacts

The survey compared the performance of ethical funds, conventional non-ethical funds, index trackers and the FTSE 100 over one, three, five and ten years. It found, in the twelve months to July 1, that the average ethical fund posted growth of 18.3pc, compared with 13.7pc from the average non-ethical fund, 15.7pc from index trackers and just 13.2pc from the FTSE 100. Over three years, ethical funds’ returns were found to have outstripped those of non-ethical funds, by 57.2pc against 52.3pc.
