IFA anger as Pru undermines advice

PRUDENTIAL is running the risk of "completely alienating itself" from advisers after it emerged that the firm is contacting customers directly when IFA recommendations to surrender with-profits business are received by the firm.

Professional Adviser can reveal the with-profits giant aims to continue to extend this practice, despite furious responses and threats to boycott Prudential business from a number of adviser firms. Les Beavis, managing director, Financial Management Bureau, said that he had been appalled to discover that the Prudential was contacting his clients “behind his back” after advice was given to surrender Pru Bond business. “I think it is appalling that the Pru are effectively questioning IFAs' advice. “They don't know the client, we do.
