INVESTEC Asset Management has launched a new global fund which has the ability to go both long and short of the market.
The Global Extension fund is managed by James Hand, head of Investec’s 4Factor Research team, and will operate in a similar way to 130/30 style portfolios, using derivatives to take either a negative or positive view on markets. The fund, which launched on July 2, is aiming to achieve a return of between 3-5pc above the MSCI World index, and while it typically will have full net exposure of 100pc it can go up to 50pc short of the market if the conditions where right for such a call.
