UK INVESTORS are mortgaging their futures by accumulating record levels of debt, according to multi-manager boutique 7IM.

Justin Urquhart Stewart, 7IM director, said there is “an almost universal confidence” that there will be an easy start for the economy next year, but the growing levels of debt should be seen as a major concern for UK fund managers. “We are looking at the frightening level of debt that UK individuals have taken on which is £1,237bn,” he said. “With rates having just risen again, what are the likely impacts for the UK economy and how should we adjust portfolios to manage the implications and impact of such figures. “There is an almost universal view that there will be a perfect soft...
