Stanlib Africa fund hits $250m investment

STANLIB's Standard Africa Equity fund has attracted over $250m of investment since launch on August 15, 2007.

It has attracted investors from the UK, Europe and the Middle East and has returned 27.2pc in $ terms in the six and a half months to March 1, 2008, compared to the 8.02pc returned by the MSCI Global Emerging Markets index over the same period. The fund currently holds shares in 48 companies from nine African countries and six industry sectors, including banks and financials (41pc), resources (21pc) and construction (13pc).
