IFAs shunning supermarkets - Sesame

FEWER than half of advisers use fund supermarkets, according to findings from the inaugural Sesame Service Index. Of the 341 advisers surveyed, only 165 said they used fund supermarkets.

Amongst those that do, those offered by Skandia, FundsNetwork and Cofunds were ranked first, second and third respectively, in the level of service provided. Steve Young of Sesame said: “Only half of the advisers we surveyed actually use fund supermarkets, which is a surprisingly low take up. However there is no getting away from the fact that when advisers do use fund supermarkets they go to the ‘usual suspects’.” Sesame members were asked to rank fund supermarkets on a scale of one to five, as to their service being either ‘Premier League’ or ‘Relegation Zone’.
