Young people 'will struggle' to match today's retirees

A LIFE company has claimed most young people will struggle to achieve the same lifestyle as older UK residents when they eventually retire.

Research conducted by the Social Issues Research Centre (SRIC) for Friends Provident found while people aged between 52 and 60 had achieved a perfect work/life balance people in their 20s, 30s and 40s would struggle to match them. Jeremy Ward, head of pensions and marketing at Friends Provident, said: “It is ironic that some of today’s retirees are living the kind of life that those in their 30s and 40s can only dream of – a life of financial freedom and freedom to pursue hobbies and interests with no added burden.” The report found 60pc of retirees, labelled the Freetirement Generati...
