The director general of the ABI has attacked the government for failing to live up to its promise on Personal Accounts.
Stephen Haddrill accused the Government of saying the right things but not acting on them so far in terms of Personal Accounts. He stressed that the new schemes must not challenge the existing pensions provision for a stake of the UK market and only target those without provision. “The Government has said again and again that the new Personal Accounts must complement and not compete with existing pension provision, but it is no good just saying the right thing,” he said.
