SWIP backs emerging markets despite volatility

DESPITE market volatility, the outlook for global emerging markets remains positive, according to Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP).

Their economies are now in much better shape and able to withstand market and economic turbulence, said Andrew Ness, investment director, SWIP Global Emerging Market Equities. His view is driven by two key themes: infrastructure spending and rising consumer demand. And, with fund managers able to identify companies exposed to these themes, he is confident as to the returns on emerging market stocks.
